Nothing like a HUGE reward for sticking it out on a cloudy, drizzly day! Â We spent the day Sight Fishing to pushing fish sliding over some very skinny water. Â After a couple of almost’s we hooked up to this behemoth female. Â 15 times into the backing….a long way’s into the backing, an hour 45 minutes later, and a mile & a half – two miles from our hookup spot she faked us out and showed us her side then made a finale jump where the fly came loose and she was gone. Â So close…I mean soo close. Â She was my Angler’s first Tarpon ever! Â An epic battle with a beautiful fish. Â He is naturally completely hooked now! Â It’s a privilege to be involved up close with these fish on a daily basis during the summer months. Â To guide Angler’s to experience the eat and power of Tarpon on the Fly.
The report is…we are having an awesome migration still. Â The fish are here in amazing numbers. Â I have been seeing some very very large groups and strings pushing through the flats each day. Â We have sunny day’s where the fishing has been gangbustgers and we have had the overcast day’s where we work a bit harder and are still putting fish in the air due to sheer numbers in the fishery. Â I am looking forward to each and every day left in the Florida Tarpon season!
