Apalachicola and the Florida Panhandle 2022 Tarpon season is a month away! Book your calendar dates ASAP! Come enjoy Tarpon Fly Fishing in the the sports final (true frontier.) Yes, there still is a Tarpon frontier. Yes, you could still be the first to catch a tarpon on fly in certain locations. With the ever growing need to be relevant on social media we have seen an unprecedented inflow of Guides and Anglers to the sport of saltwater fly fishing. Everyone wants a picture to say they were there. Everyone wants to say they fished with this or that guide in this or that overfished 20 – 60 year old spot. Basically everyone has the same photo from the same 200 points that tarpon migrate around up the gulf coast from the Key’s to the Fl Panhandle.
Just think if you could throw flies at quiet, calm fish whom have not been disturbed or seen a fly in 100+ miles of their migration. They eat, they are huge (200+lbs,) and no one else is around to combat you for the spot. It’s like the day’s the Mill House podcast keeps interviewing about time and time again with old school guides who were the first in any of the popular spots that everyone has heard of. The phrase that is echoed by these pioneers when asked “was there any pressure?” They simply answer “There was no one else around.”
Lodging available upon request.
May & June are the months.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Doug Henderson
